John Waite is coming to Weins Family Cellars on June 19. John Waite has always captured theJohn-Waite moment through his songs and live performances. For more than three decades, he has enjoyed an illustrious musical career.
The experience of rock ‘n’ roll glory came fast and furious for John Waite during the late 1970s. His band, The Babys, captured all the excitement of hitting it big in America: hit albums; hit singles, sellout concerts—non-stop on the airwaves and on the road. In the ’80s, John Waite’s career ignited with the MTV/radio staple Change and then exploded with Missing You—a worldwide number-one smash that has become a pop rock radio staple, which went to No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Two more singles followed, including “Tears,” which was a Top 10 hit on the Billboard Mainstream Rock charts.
Back in a band at the start of ’90s, Waite experienced further No. 1 chart success with When I See You Smile, multi-million album sales, and sellout concerts with Bad English. Waite returned to solo work and since has produced numerous solo albums. He still tours, including in 2003 with Ringo Starr’s All Starr Band, and as an opening act for Journey in 2005.
In 2006, “Missing You” was released as a duet with Alison Krauss and reached the Top 40 on the Country Charts in the United States.
Waite firmly believes that returning to the road was the key to refocusing his entire musical career. “And, at the end of the day, the song is still everything to me. What I enjoy more than anything is experiencing life and capturing the moments in music.”
Lukas Nelson comes from a rich musical heritage and his group, The Promise of the Real, is his first as band leader. The group’s debut album, an EP titled “Brando’s Paradise Sessions,” is slated for release in May of 2009.
Join John Waite at Wein’s Family Cellars for an up close and personal performance on June 19.
