Car Giveaway Winner Announced at The Promenade Temecula

Paradise-Chevrolet-PromenadeOn Friday, August 14th, approximately 250 people gathered on The Plaza at The Promenade Temecula. Together with Paradise Chevrolet Cadillac, the mall hosted a free car giveaway where one lucky winner would take home a 2009 Chevy Malibu.
The winner was the fourth out of five contestants to try his key in the car’s ignition. John Signoreli, Jr. of Murrieta had stopped by the mall with his family and dropped his name in the bin. With no other plans for the evening, they stuck around to see if their name would be called. “I was totally surprised. My boss recently asked me to drive to Fresno and I was worried that our current vehicles wouldn’t make it. I’m not worried anymore,” states John. “The only disappointing part of the evening is that my wife had taken my youngest child to time out for misbehaving so she missed my name being called and the photos afterward. But she is so excited along with the rest of my family. We really needed this.”
The car giveaway promotion began on June 22nd at the lower level JCPenney court. Shoppers were encouraged to enter to win. There was no purchase necessary and the mall received over 1,000 entries. Paradise Chevrolet Cadillac also allowed customers to enter at their location on Ynez Road.
The car giveaway event also ended the summer concert series at The Promenade Temecula. For more information regarding events at The Promenade Temecula, call (951) 296-0979 or visit www.promenadeintemecula.com.

A Stomping Good Time at Ponte in Wine Country

Ponte_wine_stompDitch the sneakers, hike up those skirts and get ready to hop inside a barrel for a stomping good time. The 7th Annual Grape Stomping Festival is coming to Ponte Winery. Ponte’s biggest and most exciting event of the year has attracted hundreds every summer since 2003. Guests have come from all over the world to stomp, squish and juice their way to the final round of competition where they receive a slew of prizes.
The grape stomping competition pays homage to the early days of winemaking, when people would literally stomp grapes with their bare feet to extract the juice that would eventually become wine. Today, guests at the Ponte Grape Stomp just do it for fun and in hopes of taking home the top prize of two full cases of Ponte wine, not to mention bragging rights for an entire year. While the stomping competitions may be the highlight of the event, guests also will enjoy live music, dancing, a Heart of the Harvest seasonal buffet dinner, endless Ponte wine and portrait photography from Grins-to-Go. Special “gondola” rides will take place in the vineyards giving guests an incredible inside look of the winery during harvest season.
Food and Beverage Manager Karon Cartwright and her team are already preparing for this exciting event. “We’re certain that this Festival will be our most exciting yet,” explains Karon. “We have wonderful prizes to give away and our Executive Chef Steve Stawinski has begun to plan an exquisite menu. As always, we encourage people to dress up like Lucy—the most famous grape stomper ever!”
Adults and children alike are welcome at the 2009 Grape Stomping Festival at Ponte Winery, taking place on Sunday, September 27, 2009 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Tickets are $95 per person and $86 per Ponte wine club member. Children’s (12 years and younger) tickets are $46 per child and $41 per wine club member child. Ponte Winery Takes Steps to Consolidate Sustainability Leadership in Wine Country

ponte-wineryWith a tradition of Vineyard farming in Temecula since 1984, Ponte Winery has followed basic sustainability practices since its inception. In 2007, the company resolved to increase its sustainability efforts, incorporating a more modern, aggressive, and earth-friendly approach affecting every department. From switching to soy-based printing inks to forming a “Green Team” of winery associates dedicated to advancing their mission, Ponte is quickly setting the standard for sustainability in Temecula Wine Country.
Their most recent venture is partnering with the Inland Empire CSA, or Community Supported Agriculture. CSA’s can be found nationwide and are partnerships in which a farm or farms unite with a community of supporters. Supporters pledge, or purchase, a portion of the farm’s harvest. Essentially, they help cover a farm’s yearly operating budget. In return, the farms provide regular supplies of seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables throughout the season. One of the farms contributing to the Inland Empire CSA is Sage Mountain Farms who provides The Smokehouse Restaurant with most of its organic greens. The restaurant serves as a CSA pick up location every Tuesday from 3 to 6 pm.
“Teaming up with the Inland Empire CSA was a perfect fit for us as we are always seeking new ways to grow our green movement,” explains Direct Sales Manager Ragan Erickson. “We are thrilled to support their efforts because they are providing our community with an affordable and earth-friendly way to purchase organic fruits and vegetables. By supporting your local CSA you are reducing fuel emissions since the vegetables do not have to be trucked in. You are also keeping your dollar in the local economy. We’ve already had several of our associates sign up as CSA members and we’re hoping that we can influence our guests to find a CSA in their community. And if they pick up at The Smokehouse, it’s a great chance to stay for a glass of wine and appetizer!”
Ponte recently launched a new section of their website that is devoted to all of their green efforts. Readers will find descriptions of everything the winery has done and will be doing to advance their sustainability efforts as well as tips on easy ways to go green in their own homes and communities.
