Finding Headache Relief
Headache pain is one of the top 10 reasons cited for an outpatient medical visit. In fact, 38% of adult Americans experience episodic, tension-type headaches and as many as 25 million Americans suffer from migraines.
Each year, it is estimated that time lost from work due to headache costs the nation up to $17 billion dollars in absenteeism, lost productivity and medical expenses. And it’s impossible to put a price on the valuable family time that is sacrificed. Most people suffering from chronic headaches live in fear of when the next one will strike. “If I miss more work, our project won’t be finished on time and my boss will be upset … “How can I take care of my kids if I can barely function?” … “Will I ruin our family vacation by getting a migraine?” These are common worries for chronic pain sufferers.
Headaches are the most common reason patients seek care in my chiropractic office. For many, chiropractic care eliminates the cause of the headache and also prevents its return. Seventeen years ago, when I suffered from severe, chronic migraines, a friend urged me to keep trying different types of chiropractic care and not to give up. Listening to that friend ended my migraines and daily headaches. It also is the reason for my career.
If you or someone you care about suffers from chronic headaches or migraines, please share this information —and my story— with them.
